"Not in Our City" vigil

On Wednesday, August 16, at 5:00 p.m., please join Mountain View community leaders in the Mountain View Civic Plaza at 500 Castro Street for a “Not in Our City” vigil to protest the incident of racial violence that took place in Pioneer Park on July 30.

The vigil will include live music and readings by community members.   Our community is deeply angered by the racial violence committed by two out-of-town individuals against one of our residents. We will be vigilant to ensure that such acts are not repeated. We say: “Such acts will not be tolerated in our city.”

We in Mountain View pride ourselves on the diversity of our population and on the harmonious relations that exist between the different groups that make up our city. Together, we will continue working to make these relations ever better.

A community forum sponsored by the County Board of Supervisors, with Network for a Hate-Free Community, will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
